Programs

MAPP works with schools, non-profit youth organizations, tribal councils, and other community partners to design custom programs that build on the unique strengths and assets of each community and our artistic partners. We provide an intensive, highly structured writing program that pairs young people with adult mentors under the guidance of Master Artist Thomas Dean Kellogg. This in-depth writing program gives young people clear, effective writing tools that they immediately implement in the guided playwriting process. Each young writer creates a two-character, one-act play that focuses on a metaphorical character’s greatest wish and the obstacles to achieving that goal.

Each MAPP program engages the imagination and creativity of young people while building communication and writing skills. A MAPP program is also designed to extend community investment in youth by building a network of support through multiple public staged readings of the young writer’s work. MAPP Community and Development Consultant Myra Donnelley works with you to identify community partners and obtain funding and institutional support for your MAPP program.
